Abstract

This research paper delves into the burgeoning field of spatial computing, encompassing augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR), to explore its transformative potential and the hurdles it faces towards widespread adoption. Through a comprehensive synthesis of expert insights, thematic analyses, and trend evaluations, the study unveils the multifaceted landscape of spatial computing technologies, highlighting their implications across various sectors including education, healthcare, and entertainment. Despite the promising prospects of spatial computing in enhancing interactive digital experiences, significant barriers such as high costs, hardware limitations, and usability challenges are identified as major impediments to its broader acceptance and integration into daily life. Moreover, the paper scrutinizes ethical considerations, focusing on privacy, data security, and the potential for misuse, underscoring the need for robust ethical guidelines and regulatory frameworks. The research employs theoretical frameworks like the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Value Sensitive Design (VSD) to contextualize the findings and propose actionable solutions. The conclusion emphasizes spatial computing's potential to revolutionize our digital interactions but calls for concerted efforts to address its adoption barriers and ethical challenges. Recommendations for future research, policy formulation, and technology development are made to ensure the responsible evolution of spatial computing technologies. This study contributes to the academic discourse on spatial computing, offering insights into its current state, future directions, and the collaborative efforts required to realize its full potential.
